Thin Skinned 01:40
Now we understand anatomy. Now we know our ghosts are only skin deep, waiting to be set free. We'll leave our wrappers here for everyone to see. Now we've regained a sense of urgency. Articles signal emergency. You can fall out of your bones through a hole in your heart or your head. Your life will be forever changed once painted red. There are no guarantees. It's so frustrating to make sense of senseless days: there's no way. I will reach for the bottle and scream or I will reach for the cloudy sky on my knees or I will reach for the cold hands of the dead, burrow arms underground to find them again, or I will break glass in the street.

13 01:38
It’s already gone. The color sucked out of your face, it’s already gone. White like ghosts, white like the flakes of skin that fall from my head. It's already gone. Not enough will change to make you safe. You stay to save her innocence. You don’t deserve the pain you face, but it illustrates your resiliency. Love for you is not at stake. If I could take you away I would take you away.

Recess 02:40
We were once explorers, bank robbers, sons and daughters. We were once dream makers, kings and queens, space invaders, but not anymore. We are old and haggard, worn-out, alcohol-soaked fun, ill-entertained grownups. We are worn and routine-schedule, processed, formula-driven adults, but please no more.

3 score and 10: predictions can wear thin. Where 70 meets 17 or 7 years or seconds in. Easy to end, but how to begin? Roads break like lightning scattered over space. A taste of great confusion. Place your years on planned paper and then contemplate direction, weather, timing, love and faith, hate or general mistakes, If opportunity came to me and didn't flee. If it revealed its fit for me and didn't bleed ambiguity. If opportunity could search for me. Brick and mortar concrete walls, barbed wire fencing and bouncing betty balls; dug out trenches, castle doors, Thwomp and lava pits and intoxicating lures; fortress moats, alligator throats, bow and arrow wielding men with catapults: There's no way to infiltrate the days that come this way.
5.
Carcass 03:53
Warped, white, wood walls with plaster-backing breaking, bending nails. Breathing cushion clouds of skin and dust. Hidden Scutigera Coleoptrata. In my ceiling insects are breeding. Lonely reading. Blinds and shades make life opaque. This place has died with me trapped inside of its walls.

Heart Health 03:00
I'll never let you stall again. I promise you I'll always hold your head and let you rest. I'll start again. I'll never let you stall again. Until my veins are clogged by the steady hand of God, until my lungs move no more, I'll keep you pumping strong if only not for long and spill you into songs when you're full. I need to take better care and learn when to share and know when to bolt that red door. I should do what I should or you'll become no good anymore. How do I prevent you from growing old? How do I prevent you from turning cold? Does this thing determine my life by the amount of stress that it holds or does this thing die on its own no matter the torture it goes? Until my veins are clogged by the steady hand of God, I'll keep you pumping strong if only not for long. I'll spill you into songs, discuss you all night long, and follow you 'til you are no good.
7.
If I was born as somebody else with a backwards brain and I couldn't help myself would you set aside your comfort and take the time to help? Oh my dear, would you be there? Or oh my dear, would you run scared? Or would you see me as a person and guide my hands and feet to complete the simplest tasks?
8.
I'm covered in your blood, your shadow, your eyes, your crimson hide. The knife still strapped to my side since the night we took your life. You were waiting patient, sweating blood. One billion blades behind backs, a chorus of sharpened steel run across stone. Worse than nails on a chalkboard was the ringing in His ears. Worse than silverware on plates was the sound of our approaching feet. Worse than the gnashing of His teeth was the sound of our approaching feet.
9.
Execution 02:30
My timeline will spray out the hole in my neck where my head used to be. The blade separates vertebrae. Black masks stand in my blood on the stage which I lay and present to the crowd my dismay, share the buckets of thoughts they ring out my brain and discuss my desire for change and the fear that chases. Hey, look at the bright side of things. Examine the limitless options you're too scared to take and choices confusion can't make so just keep working at the YMCA or step up and think of what your best option would be and see what it brings. Applications are stamped and released to next steps. Professional progress. Rolling heads.

about

7 years ago two pals gathered at a practice space in Cincinnati, Ohio and recorded 9 songs live. After previously tracking the album and losing it and their drummer to Chicago, Mark drove 3 hours south, Bryan traded his bass for drums, and together they documented the project which spawned their friendship. Bryan shortly after moved to Colorado Springs, Mark stayed in Toledo, and here we are 7 years later. Recorded Live in Cincinnati, Ohio and mixed by Bryan Sespico in 2013+. Additional backups recorded and mixed in Toledo, Ohio by Mark Gorey 2017-2020. Additional voices: Kyla Gorey. Reunion tour 2063. Thank you, Bryan, for making this a reality. Miss you, man.

about

Oak Heart Toledo, Ohio

Bridging the Glass and Queen cities since 2011, Mark Gorey and Bryan Sespico have become the last two members of The Great Oak Heart. Blending raw speed with non-traditional song patterns and purpose driven lyrics, Oak Heart understands that life can get real and/or routine, but written expression and the joy of playing music with friends can make all the difference. ... more
